SPECIAL: CUESTA DE SAMÁ

Of the many routes to the Andean Altiplano, this is about the most spectacular. Starting in Tarija, you ride up the Cuesta de Samá, climbing through various climates and over a panoramic summit to the dusty Altiplano village of Iscayachi. The ‘Cuesta’ isn’t paved (at least, it wasn’t when I rode it) so start early before the road gets too dusty and busy.
